Since we're just hoping and wishing....
It would be really cool if Apple could just skip the cell phone and go straight to satellite phone service.
I know that the major carriers can't do it because the bandwidth is not there for Verizon's 40 million, Cingular's 42 million, or Sprint's 38 million customers, plus the phones are still bulky with huge antennas.
But if the minturization lept forward just a little bit, I would love to have an Apple satellite smartphone with bluetooth connectivity, screw CDMA, TDMA, GSM and all the other 3 and 4 letter words.
What's the max internet speed off of satelite? 700 kbps?
Just dreaming :)
edit: nevermind, I forgot you prolly couldn't use it indoors anyway :(

Sold... 299 dollars for that? Amazing.
That's my thought exactly. This is what I wanted FC to be all along. I found myself going back to iMovie time and time again because I was so sick of dealing with FC's quirks. This is going to make pro editing a pleasure.

I don't ask for much in this world, but please let this remain picture free. The "Sharing a joke" thread I began yesterday evening was closed quickly ... if pictures of the piercing appear here and survive, my only question will be, "What is more entertaining -- jokes that make you laugh or pics with the power to turn a stomach?"
To each his own.Yes, but that was spam to entertain a bored member.
This is spam to torture a MR member, which doesn't get closed as quick -- at least until it goes way off topic.

This is a surprise? Just look at the titles. Who the hell reads these rags anyway?
I am a subscriber to GQ, Details, and Wired...I have never even looked at the iPad app bc I wont pay twice...they should push to offer it with print subscription, and if an upgrade give a reason why I should pay extra...right now I can get a print edition for $1 per issue

I have a dumb question.
Why do Dropbox, Amazon, and possibly iTunes not allow video streaming from the cloud? It seems like they all only offer music.

I am considering which version to buy. Is it better to run under Mac OS or Windows 7 via Bootcamp? My computer is MBP 2010 17".
No need to consider. Buy it on Mac, and you get it on Windows too. Buy it on Windows, get the Mac version too. All you need is the Steam app installed in each OS, from www.steampowered.com. The best part is that your save games auto sync between the two sides, using the built in SteamCloud service. You can flip back and forth all you want.

Yep, and the funny thing is, even if you want to pretend 30% is an issue, fine! Charge 100% more for the iPad subscription. That should make up for it, no? I'd gladly pay it.
The 500% increase they're asking now is outrageous. (Wired is $10 for 12 issues through Amazon.)
And amazon is taking at least 30%, I would be shocked if the cut was that small.
It costs right around $1 per magazine to print, design and mail for very large circulations. Magazine not newspaper. Take out the printing and mailing and you're probably looking at about $.75 costs. Sell it for $.99 on the ITMS and Apple takes $.33 and they lose money. Magazines have very little wiggle room price wise.
BS, see above or join any large affiliate program that has accounts with major magazine publishers. Apple is about their cheapest avenue because they even process the payment for them.
WSJ pays 30% for each new subscriber you bring if you are on the CJ program. They pay MORE to higher volume affiliates. Almost all of the publishers are in the 25% to 35% range.
If they can't get all of their ads into the online version, that is a personal problem they should work out. The iPad readers are automatically the top of their Demo too, no reason any of their advertisers would purposefully shun them.

Wait so, how are we supposed to report No Coverage in an area with, well, no coverage?
The app supposedly puts a GPS tag on your submission and holds the report until you're within coverage area. But as someone already stated, sometimes the GPS is non-functional as well.
I think this is a step in the right direction. I just got back from Ohio, and the place I was staying at had maybe one bar of EDGE on a good day. I'm eager to try this app. I have lots of odd coverage anomalies where I live, and this might signal the start of some improvements.
To all those people who say that AT&T should be fixing the problem on their own, how do they know where those problems are unless we tell them?

I'd rather Apple introduce a music streaming service.
Well since spotify is getting rid of its free service, now might be the chance to get in on that market...

MacNN notes (http://www.macnn.com/articles/06/08/17/itunes.movie.store.soon/) that Lions Gate Films has tipped Apple's hat to the existance of upcoming availability of feature-length films available for purchase/download through iTunes.
Steve Beeks, President of Lions Gate, stated:
"In terms of iTunes movie downloads, I think most likely some time before the end of the year. We know when they are planning on launching, but since they have not announced it publicly, I do not think it is our place to say anything more about that. Calendar year."
The iTunes Music Store currently doesn't offer any full-length movies for purchase/download, with minor exceptions to some full-length content available via ShowTime.

The world's best movie editors never do their job on Mac platform, on which there is little resource/tools compared with other OS, dont they?
A software on mac could be even called a great news. so as steam.
The same thing just needs more hardware resources on Mac.
e.g., for starcraft 2, one needs 1gb on win but 2 on mac...
Video card perfermance is another restraint, may be due to bad driver development.
Are you serious? Please don't come in here with such moronic comments like that. Think before you speak, you will find that things in life will move along better for you.

Because I couldn't wait to get my hands on a Mac? :)
Sounds good enough to me :p As long as it does what you want it to do, I'm sure it'll be a great Mac.
